At the Yurok Country Visitor Center, we are often asked about the best hiking trails in Klamath. When we have so many gorgeous and accessible trails to choose from, this question is difficult to answer.

Everyone, regardless of their background or fitness level, can experience the beauty of Yurok Country. That's why we've compiled a list of our favorite hikes, from beginner to advanced levels. Each hike showcases the unique natural wonders Yurok Country has to offer.

The Hidden Beach Trail is a perfect hike for beginners. This 1.5-mile trail takes you through a stunning redwood forest, and leads to a secluded beach. As you walk, the majestic presence of the surrounding redwoods creates a sense of awe. Arrive at Hidden Beach to find crashing waves, soft sand, and serenity.


Though the severity depends on the time of year, be prepared for some muddy boots following consistent rainfall in the area.


Yurok Loop Trail: A Scenic Journey

  • 2-mile loop

The Yurok Loop Trail offers a scenic journey through the wonders of Yurok Country. This 2-mile loop provides stunning views of the Klamath River and surrounding mountains. Along the way, you might catch glimpses of indigenous wildlife such as elk or osprey. The amazing vistas serve as a reminder of the rich heritage and natural beauty of Yurok Country.


Because of its length we consider this an intermediate level hike. The trail takes an average of 45 minutes, which leaves plenty of time for a picnic at the trailhead when you’re done.


Coastal Trail, Klamath Section: A Journey Along the Pacific

Snacks are a must for this day-long adventure. The meandering Coastal Trail is a moderate hike following the rugged coastline for nearly 8 miles. The trek is well worth the breathtaking views of the Pacific that showcase the untamed beauty of our region. The salty, coastal breeze graces the densely wooded forest. Vibrant wildflowers paint the rocky cliffsides. Trust us, you’ll be stopping for pictures around every corner.


Be sure to watch for some steep sections as you navigate the uneven path and take in the remarkable views.


Damnation Creek Trail: A Challenge Worth Undertaking

The name says it all. For experienced hikers who seek a challenge, the Damnation Creek Trail is the perfect choice. This 3.4-mile hike offers steep inclines and rewarding views. As you descend 1,100 feet, the dense forest envelops you, creating an immersive experience in nature. The trail leads to a beach, where you can marvel at the vastness of the ocean or unpack some snacks for a peaceful picnic.


Tall Trees Grove Trail: Conquer the Heights
